On behalf of the entire RCMP family, the Quebec Mounted Police Members’ Association extends its deepest condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Constable Thierry Leroux, who was killed in the line of duty on February 13 while responding with his partner to a domestic abuse call in the aboriginal community of Lac-Simon, Quebec.

The 26-year-old police officer had only six months on the job. Born in Amos, Quebec, he was, according to his father, very well appreciated in the community and was living his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer. On February 14, the local aboriginal community held a silent march of tribute from the location where Leroux was gunned down, to the local community centre.

The suspect who killed officer Leroux admitted his crime on his Facebook page immediately after the incident, before taking his life.

A delegation from the QMPMA attended the Leroux funeral in Saguenay.
